David Clarke, O.D.

Dr. Clarke graduated with his doctor of optometry from Pacific University College of Optometry in 1999. He did his undergraduate studies at Carroll College in Helena, Montana where he graduated with a bachelors degree in biology, in 1995. After leaving optometry school, Dr. Clarke practiced on the Hopi Indian Reservation for three years. There he gained invaluable experience and was adjunct professor for Southern California College of Optometry and Pacific University College of Optometry. In 2003 he took over the practice of Dr. Dodd Carr, who had been providing excellent service to the community for almost 40 years.

When not at his clinic, he loves to spend time with his wife and three young children. You may also find him, with fly rod in hand, on his way to one of the local rivers. He invites you and your family to become one of his patients, and looks forward to meeting you soon.

Glenn Johnston, O.D.

A Butte County native, Dr. Johnston graduated in 1977 from the University of California at Berkeley, School of Optometry, after 4 years of undergraduate study at U.C. Davis. He Completed a residency at the Veterans Hospital and the University of Utah in Salt Lake City, before joining the long established and respected Chico practice of Dr. Richard Peters in 1978. Dr. Johnston took over the practice after Dr. Peter’s retirement in 1983. In September 2006 Dr. Johnston joined with Dr. David Clarke at the new Ceanothus location, to establish Family Eye Care.

When Dr. Johnston is not practicing the profession he loves, he enjoys outdoor sports and gardening. A devoted family man, he and his wife are the proud parents of two adult daughters.

Anna Griffith, O.D.

Dr. Griffith, a Chico native, completed a residency in Vision Therapy, Rehabilitation, and Pediatrics through Pacific University College of Optometry in Oregon following her graduation from optometry school at UC Berkeley and undergraduate studies at UC Davis. Using objective examination techniques different from adult exams, Dr. Griffith evaluates infants and young children to detect refractive error and eye coordination problems early when they can best be treated. She has treated patients with amblyopia (“lazy eye”) and strabismus (eye turn), as well as those with eye teaming, tracking, focusing, visual perceptual, and visual information processing problems. Her work includes treating visual dysfunctions in children who are struggling in school, especially with reading and spelling. During residency, Dr. Griffith also treated Veterans with traumatic brain injury and stroke at the Veteran’s Administration Hospitals in Vancouver, WA and Portland, OR. She practices full scope optometry including prescribing glasses, fitting contact lenses and is certified to treat glaucoma and other ocular disease.

In her free time, Dr. Griffith likes playing just about any sport, photography and painting.
