About Family Eye Care

Family Eye Care Optometry has been serving the Chico community from its current location since 2006. The practice was established by Dr. Glenn Johnston, who had been providing eye care in Chico for more than 25 years, and Dr. David Clarke, who relocated to Chico in 2003 after working on the Hopi Indian Reservation.

In 2012, Dr. Anna Griffith, a Chico native, joined the practice, bringing a special focus on pediatric and developmental vision care. Following Dr. Johnston’s retirement in 2017, Dr. Laurel Hammang joined the team. A native of Paradise, Dr. Hammang brought specialized expertise in contact lens care for surgical corneal patients and other complex fitting situations, developed during her residency at UC Berkeley.

The practice welcomed its newest doctor, Dr. Rebecca Harbert, in August 2025. Another Chico native, Dr. Harbert, joined the team after completing a residency in ocular disease.

We value the long-standing relationships we have built with our patients over the years and look forward to welcoming new patients and families to our practice.
